Very cool Alan! Other than knowing it is the moon I have no idea what I am looking at what are all the dots of light and why does it look like carbonated bubble fizzies at the bottom?
Great shot Alan, are you getting ready for the Blood moon?
I used to have quite a number of practiced moon shots...bugger if I know where they are but I do not recall if I have the blue fringe like this one at the right side...
Bloody moon will be tomorrow, Saturday, with religious meaning to some indicating the end of the world or sumthink. The world had been predicted many time as far as I can remember while I am still alive and I am still here...go figure.
Anyway, this is a nicer one ....
well done. now if you can just get a night with a stabler atmosphere. The closer you can get to having the moon at 12 o'clock the less problems from the atmosphere.
Thanks all. I know nothing about a 'blood moon', so no, not practicing for that. I'd just like to say I took a good picture of the moon for once. This was done fairly early in the evening so yes, there was a lot of atmosphere to shoot thru. I find it easier to get behind the lens as I keep my tripod collapsed fully for stability. 12 o'clock high might be a little bit of 'on my back' work if you know what I mean. Hope we don't get fog tonight, we'll see.
Here's one with a phone line going thru it.
That's a good image Alan. What you should do is download Registax 6 which is free and use 'wavelets' to enhance the moon. You need the full resolution image to do that. Your image will look great.
Speaking about blood moon, this image was taken last year or so during the lunar eclipse and this is how a blood moon appears. Mind you I was shooting for the eclipse therefore overall this is not to my liking.
What I like to shoot of the moon is the second image which requires a lot of work.
and even better but requires more time consuming work is this unfinished mosaic.
Apologize if this detracts from your image but my intention was purely to show what can be achieved and even improved upon still.
Haseeb, I like your second image too. I'm afraid I just don't like sitting in front of the computer working on an image as long as that would take me though. I'm a SOOC type of shooter, if you know what I mean.
Great images though, and thanks for commenting.
Alan, Moon processing does not take up time, it is the labourious task of shooting panels of the second and third image which is time consuming.
Great shots as usual Haseeb...many thanks for the link...I will look into it too...(for tomorrow's blood moon...) hope we have good coverage...
