These reed beds at the Maltings, Snape are typical of Suffolk coastal landscape. In this case a boardwalk has been established to facilitate the many visitors to the Maltings which is home to the Aldeburgh Music Festival, founded by the late composer, Sir Benjamin Britten and the singer, Peter Pears. (As well as being a world renowned centre of excellence for young musicians, the Maltings also houses craft shops, a fine restaurant and pub as well as private apartments.)
The sense of texture here from all elements of the composition and subdued sound of a gentle breeze through the reeds appealed to me and this shot is my attempt to capture the atmosphere. It printed really sharp for me at 45 x 30 cm. which pleased me greatly given that it was made with the much maligned but, in my experience, great Nikkor 70-300 f4.5-5.6.
