Anatomy of a Broken Wine Bottle

I thought my previous photo would be my last photo of glass from my broken wine bottle. I then got the idea to make the photo shown below, which really will be my last one. All of the broken glass has now been safely recycled.

    Setup
The bottle is laid on clear glass suspended by drinking glasses above translucent glossy white acrylic. The camera is held above the scene by a boom. First capture: Lit from below by a large continuous-light lamp with 5 bulbs lit. Second capture: A medium continuous-light lamp in the top right area lit the foil. The two photos were merged.

Very creative. I was going to suggest putting a broken wine glass with it, but evidently this is now not possible !! Next time ??

Neither my wife nor I have ever broken a glass while wine was in it. When I broke a wine bottle last month, the wine went all over the kitchen floor but you're correct that I never photographed that bottle and the wine. When I took the bottle shown here out of the box, there was no wine; my guess is that the breakage occurred days if not months earlier.

I actually never thought of adding a broken wine glass to the scene. I have kept most of the broken glasses and could have done that. Even so, I'm having a difficult time imagining how effective it would be to pair a transparent wine glass with a translucent, green wine bottle. If we ever to have another broken wine bottle, I'll definitely consider your suggestion so thanks for making it.
