    Jellyghost!

Jellyfish or ghost. We happened upon this strange and sinister looking creature washed up on our local beach today. Time to send for Ghost Busters perhaps.

    Re: Jellyghost!

It is indeed a jellyfish (or the remains of one), but not one that I can identify. How big was it? I did wonder if the mangled appearance is because it has been half eaten by a turtle. The Leatherback turtle does get into these latitudes and higher, and feeds mainly on jellyfish.

Having got my zoologists hat off, I think that the it has an amazing resemblance to a spook!

Didn't actually touch it but I'm convinced it was real.

I have no expertise in jellyfish (or ghosts) but it looks to me like one of a large number in various stages of development washed up on our beaches relatively intact. There are a lot of much smaller ones. This one was about 10 to 12 inches long.

Yes Binnur, it was really spooky although my dog wasn't bothered by it.

Thank you John and David. I resisted the temptation to bring it home.
