    Re: Fly's

Yesterday, I practiced on the tip of my new orchid blooms...nice but it has a little bit of softness in it. I used a 200mm zoom lens. The lens has its own macro option. Then I put one of the tubes, one by one. then two, then all of them, hand-held. I think I should use my laptop to tether to my camera because it just got too close to the object for comfort. I found a shell in the garden near the hose. I will practice on that in the morning. It is just too windy out there. I think the change of season brings rains and thunder and lightning so from 72°F, weather had gone down dramatically to 40°+ so it is cold out there and wet and muddy. Not my type of shooting condition at all...until I can master how to use this lens and perhaps the tubes, I am not going to stop. Rubbish bins are not my kind of venue to photograph... OK...I will try without tubes tomorrow on that little shell I found...Thanks for the info.

if I were you I would practice on flower heads or coins or similar, as for bugs I don't use any of the methods you mentioned, I just go out and hopefully find them, try and sneak up on them and hope they do not move or fly away it can be very frustrating but also very rewarding when you get a half decent image, be prepared for a lot more in the trash bin to start with and keep away from wasps until you get the hang off things looking forward to seeing your images

No problem pal, if you are not using a dedicated Macro lens maybe you will be better with the tubes? I have a set but have not played with them yet, just practice practice then practice some more remember and show us your progress
