    Thunderstorms and hailstones...

All those lightnings and thunders and dog barks cannot compare to my trying to keep myself dry while I open and shut the door by the deck when the hailstones hits our area this morning two hours ago...hubby and his son were busy going out the garage because his son's car was in the driveway....ain't no room for it in ours. It was interesting later on hearing the news that somewhere two blocks away they have golf ball size ones while we only have this big...

1 Yeah...yeah...I forgot to change my settings from this early morning's flower shots...

    Thunderstorms and hailstones...

2 and these are not even enough to ding a car roof...but ruined the petal of one of my tulips down below...

    Thunderstorms and hailstones...

Oh well...that is springtime for us...change of weather, more rain, more weeds and more flowers...more work...

The potential for damage from hail is always a worry Izzie. You feel so helpless when you have a car out in it with nowhere to shelter it. Looks like these were not quite big enough to cause serious damage but you never know until it's too late ! They use fairly thin steel in cars these days.

I have a good friend that lives in KC MO who had a VW Passat he'd bought brand new get ruined by hail. Looked like someone had taken a baseball bat to the car, but it didn't break any glass. Stay safe out there.

We're going to Bowling Green (Kentucky) in June....do you have a firm schedule yet when? June can be pretty hot here...We had an event here and the weather was constant 85-95°F. Then a week after our event, we had 10 long days of 105°F. That was in 2012...the next years after that was pretty good. PM me if you need a room to stay the night or something...

hehehehe....Dave, it's not my car. Thanks. I did not panic...just curious...and trying my best to avoid the lightning as I open and shut the door at the back. Doggies panicked...bark stupid...Honey tried to take photos from his P&S through the glass door. I opened the door and he got busy trying to get the bigger ones off the floor and throwing it back outside...It was really funny. Then he realized he wanted to take photos so he got some and put it on the kitchen bench then ran and got the ruler...when he goes on and on like that of a woman, I usually stay still to get out of his way and just smile.

No, the size of this did not do any damage at all but two or three blocks away in Ballwin, they have golf sized ones. That would have been scary if I am or my husband is out with my SUV...this is when I will panic as I count the dollars coming out of our pocket to fix those dents...

Inside the house, it is quite safe...well, I feel safe. Our cars are both in the garage so I am OK with that...we do not live in tornado alley either so we are OK...Our truck outside doesn't matter...it is just an old F250 we use to haul airplane parts. Thank you for the thoughts...

Wow Izzie, they are pretty big ones and pleased they did no damage for you. We had a minor hail storm here last year, tiny ones but it made headline news as so rare

    Re: Thunderstorms and hailstones...

Grahame... no damage -- the hailstorm getting inside the kitchenette is more work just by me opening and shutting the door to the deck to take photos of the ice. The bulk of the bigger hailstones and floody areas are about two or three blocks away from us in Balwin, Manchester. Funny, a guy just bought a truck only to float in the flood.

John...thank you for your comment...yep! we were but we are lucky for those 10-minute of household madness. If I panic with the dogs and honey-do, the house would have burst wide open...I took the calmer road, stood still and smile at the activities going on and just did my part trying to avoid the lightning, getting one of the dogs who escaped my clutches, took photographs and retired to my laptop from the dining room.

After all the commotions finished, hubby asked "how can you be so calm?" What is there to panic about like them? Our house is standing on a large rock since it was built 26 years ago and we live on a hill. Go figure...

Thanks Binnur and Donna...just one of the tulips in the patch. I saw this morning that the pink ones are coming up...and I haven't checked the side gardens yet...the sun is shining for a little while, hopefully I can continue my mulching today before we go shopping for supplies here... Yep! we're fine. Everyone is fine and has finally settled down...

My dog before Tucker, Cooper was very fond of going out despite the thunder and lightning and all those activities concerning water. He is a water boy really....but one time, he was begging to go out in the rain, I allowed him and then came the little hailstones...he run inside the garage while whinging...ick...ick...ick...

I love that dog but he did not spend a long time with us...he was already sick with kidney problems when we got him but he is so much fun and the most intelligent dog I ever have in my life so far...then we got Tucker after him...
