    Banksia flowers

I have been travelling interstate over the last couple of weeks and while in Sydney stayed a few days in an outer north west suburb where the ground is sand and sandstone. These were wild flowers in the bush within a few metres of each other. They have an interesting form and naturally bright colours - there is no colour saturation applied here.

I usually have a lot of problems with photographs of flowers but these seem to work better than most. C&C welcome as usual

They are interesting flowers. The 2nd and 3rd images are particularly good. Perhaps the 4th is a little too bright ?

Nice depth of field and colors! Consider using clamps and/or scissors to manage the compositions better.

    Thanks for all the comments.

Mike, I should do as you say but my instinct out in the field is not to interfere with the plants too much. These were in a reserve which is natural bush and does not get a large number of visitors.

The flower spikes are reasonably large, around 8 inches long, and even though I was using the macro lens it was not too hard to get a reasonable depth of field.

Kay, I think you are right about 4 being too bright. I am not always a good judge of that.

Izzie, the colours look as good in the flesh as they do in the pictures.
