Spider on the Deck
Its midday ish, the sun is blazing down, its not the time to take photos, well it is the time the spiders like to sunbathe on the Deck, they hide under the planks and when the sun is shining they come out to nestle in the grooves to catch the warmth - very contrasty but thats how it is

I love this photo! The composition is so intriguing. It Could be a shot for the cover of a scary novel! or the intro shot to a scary movie!

Re: Spider on the Deck
One of those Pardosa species; but they are virtually impossible to tell apart when working from photos.
They spend most of their time running about amongst the ground litter so are difficult to photograph clearly.
In a couple of months time the females will be carrying large silver grey egg sacs on their hind legs; which makes interesting photos if you can get the angle right, and can move fast enough.

Re: Spider on the Deck
Cheers David, totally agree
Thanks Binnur, this one was about 6-8mm I guess
Thank you Barbara, I loved the almost abstract aspect of it - I know they are deck planks but its not easy to see or get scale from the photo
Thanks Geoff, agree on id at that level have seen them in the garden last year with egg sac, one I will work on this year
