Cherry blossom trees in full bloom

My wife and I went to a local park to visit cherry blossom trees at their peak blooming period. The two photos are of the same pair of trees. The first photo was captured by her and post-processed by me.

Flowers at long last... Indeed both images are especially beautiful. For a favourite I think I will choose your image (hard decision) simply because I adore the cherry trees set off by the background of tall barren trees.

    Dear Mike,

To me, what is interesting is the shapes and lines of each of your compositions.

Your wife has chosen what I call a more "romantic" composition. Notice all of the different shapes created by her image. In her image, the water describes a heart that the cherry trees are wrapped around. The lines are softer and more flowing.

Your composition is more "classical". Straight lines on the thirds - a more "graphic" approach.

    Both are great.

Very nice trees Mike If your image was mine I would try cropping from right leaving only the people in the frame , the composition looks too centered to me although it is a nice scene.

    +1 to Christina's comments.

Both great shots, but the contrast between the vertical lines and the free flowing cherry blossom is what does it for me.

    Thanks, everyone!

Binnur: I'm glad to know you think the second photo is too centered. That's because I was trying very hard to make it look centered; the scene just calls for it in my opinion.
