I went to the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont this past Saturday for a bit of photography therapy . I went in the middle of a beautiful sunny day, so the light wasn't great for shooting the river or the spring foliage, but I pulled out the ND filter and made the best of it.
I did find a nice patch of trilliums in bloom. I processed these with Topaz Impression, then loaded the converted image with the original as layers in Photoshop. I added a layer mask to the original and painted some of the detail back into the petals.
I welcome and greatly appreciate C&C. Specifically, do you think the art conversion works on the flowers? Does the re-add of the details on the petals work, or does it look unnatural? Is the composition ok? I was a little concerned about being dead center, but I think it works. Is the background too busy? Anything wrong with the post-processing?
