Portable charger for Nikon D5200 Battery
Hi,
I am looking for a portable charger for D5200 battery. All those power-banks I find are for mobiles and tablets. Can anyone please help me?
Reason: I do have extra battery but hesitate to charge it at unknown place with AC mains. I am worried some one might steal it.

Re: Portable charger for Nikon D5200 Battery
I never charge my batteries when I am out in the field shooting; I bring enough spares to last me the shoot. This is probably a less expensive solution to trying to field charge a fully discharged battery. I always have a fully charged battery in my camera for those quick shots, but if I am going out shooting, I will charge up two or three batteries the night before and carry them with me. If I am on the road, I will do the charging at night in my hotel room. The charger that came with your camera is likely rated at 100 - 240V input, so while a power surge could damage it, your battery should be protected.
Portable chargers are nothing more than big batteries themselves, and depending on the type, some level of electronics to put out the appropriate voltage that has been converted to AC (cheap ones put out square waves). Charging it up is going to have the same risks as using the charger that came with your camera.
I spent two months in South Asia (over a month in India) last fall and followed my own advice. I had four batteries and my Panasonic camera charger. I'm happy to say that the mains supply in India, Bhutan and Nepal did not seem to cause any damage. The only issue I ran into was times where there was no power, which meant I could not charge the batteries. This seemed to happen on a regular basis, especially in the more rural areas of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh (in fact Arunachal Pradesh is pretty well all rural).
