Things we don't think about ...
This morning a large thunderstorm covered the area for several hours, power outages, etc. Even in the rain with the meter box filled with water, according to this worker, water meters must be read. The meter box must be cleared of water before it can be read. Continuing with my people and their story theme. C&C always.

'Round here those things are digital and transmit info directly to power company.

Re: Things we don't think about ...
Another interesting one, Dean...I will have to ask about our water meter here. I only get the bill in the mail box...

Very high tech water clearance method. Nicely captured.

Thanks for the comments.
Chauncey, this is a very small community water system; lucky to get water most of the time.
Izzie, love the signature about incoming bullets.
David, so far no floating mounds of fire ants.

Re: Things we don't think about ...
First up Dean...I asked my sugar daddy about our services here if it is digital too like William (Chauncey) -- we have two, electricity and gas, but our water is not yet digital...have to look down a hole in the ground too like that guy in your image. Now I know what that found metal thingie is!! I've always wondered what it was when I passed by that part of my front yard.
Anyway, what are fire ants? Are they dangerous?

Re: Things we don't think about ...
Fire ants are the little ants that are all over Texas. When we got our heavy rains a couple of months ago I had some fire ant mounds displaced in our pond from the water. They will clump together and continually rotate so that some stay underwater for a while and they they can crawl to the top for air while others work as the floats. They look like little fuzzy clumps of fur on the water as they float. I tried to get a picture but it was low light and a terrible image.
Anyway, if your lawn is not treated, you better be careful where you stand in Texas.
