    Jewelry Pool

I wanted to work with some different backgrounds and surfaces.

It’s fun but I do miss making messes!

    F/16
    1/200th shutter
    ISO 200
    Three lights fired.
    One frame.

Terry, to paraphrase an old country expression...that's slicker than cat's...ah, never mind.
I am liking it a lot.

    Chauncey?

Cat … is pretty goldarn slick! (We have that saying here in MO too!)

Most definitely different. Very nice image and set up.

Is this a photo composite or is the necklace actually in the water? The reason I ask is the liquid seems to be grabbing the medallion and the reflections don't seem as ergonomic as I would suspect. I would have thought the reflections would be prevalent in the catch lights of the water rather than the shadow side of the waves.

    Re: Jewelry Pool

Hi David. Thanks for taking a peek.

The shot is one frame. Not a composite. And it is actually in the water.

I really don’t know what is going on with it. It’s the first time I’ve ever tried this set-up. I had to “build” a piece of surface to do this.

About the best I could do is offer some uneducated guesses!

    Excellent work Terry.

I have to ask the question did you shoot this just as the jewellery was entering the water to capture the ripples or have it static in the water and drop something in behind it?

Actually guys, I did neither! I played with several different ideas but there is another way.

    What's the big deal...
he hung the necklace from something like a clothes hanger and bounced it in the water.

    Re: Jewelry Pool

I didn't do that either Chauncey. It would probably work but if, for some reason, one wanted/needed to composite it wouldn't be a good idea to move the subject.

I like to get something going that leaves as many options open as possible
