My First Flower Picture
Hi all,
I have recently bought a new camera lens (canon 55 - 200mm usm ultrasonic) and here is the first picture I took with it
C+C's welcome.

Hi Sam,enjoy your new gear The BG is a bit busy and bright. I would try a tighter crop to eliminate some of the BG and to make the flowers stand out more . Your DOF looks a bit shallow as you have out of focus branches and leaves of the flowers.

Nice image; it would be nice if you had taken an angle where the flowers in the back ground are separate from the your main flowers; yet this is lovely

I see that Binnur has already mentioned exactly what I was thinking.
F5.6 (wide open) will give too shallow a focus depth and at 1/500 you had available shutter speed to use a narrower aperture. I normally shoot at F11 to F14 for this sort of scene. Or occasionally F8 if I don't need a lot of focus depth and have to blur the background.
