    Green Dock Beetles

    Warning - Contains sexual material

We have had a few questions and comments recently about attempting to do merges of macro subjects from outdoor shots when there was subject movement or wind rock issues.

So here is an example of a merge from two shots on a windy day.

    Green Dock Beetles

I was using a tripod which does help.

After placing the two images on separate layers there was obviously going to be a mismatch so I removed the head and front leg from the female. Well I cloned it out. Replacing that area with background. Then did the Auto Alignment and Auto Blend as normal.

    Using Adobe CS5.

These very shiny little beetles are always tricky to photograph and impossible in direct sunshine. Even in shadow they produce a mixture of greens and bronze tints depending on the available light angle.

And while we are thinking about insects - here is something extra. An odd angle on a Gorse Shieldbug, but just one shot this time.
