Tom, thanks for the information. I was upstairs inside the Visitors Center. I actually worked at the Capitol many years ago for a Senator but it has changed so much. Funny I never thought much of the building when i worked there but now I find it very beautiful.

My uncle always had a favorite phrase: "When all else fails, read the instructions." He always practiced what he said by making sure all else had failed before reading them.

Barbara, I also worked in the Capitol many years ago during my career as a journalist. And, you're right, it has changed a lot. The underground extension is bigger than the building and I got lost more than once in my latter working years trying to find a meeting room or someone's office. Austin has changed as well. It's an enormous crowded metropolis now. Hope you enjoyed your trip and didn't get stuck in the endless traffic!

I've been to Austin many times...on an event but haven't been here. Now you entice me to go look at that part of town when I go this year...hopefully...very nice shots...+1 to Dave (Ellis) comments.

Izzie downtown Austin is really very pretty! The lake and the capital are a must see. Have you ever been to see the bats fly from the bridge? It is an amazing sight! If you aren't familiar google it as I am sure there is all kinds of information about it! Austin will always hold a special place in my heart. I visited my grandmother there as a child and then as an adult lived there about 6 years. If you want suggestions on places to visit and things to see I would be happy to give you some!

We have a lot of friends in Texas, Barbara. Hubby and I like to live in that place because of the governing powers there and of course, your castle doctrine. That place and Tennessee are our choices of moving to within the next 5 years. Not yet. We are still developing and renovating this place for eventual sale. We are sick of taxes here one on top of the other. Just outside of Dallas is a choice over there and around just outside of Nashville will be great to have a property. We go to Texas once a year for an event my husband is involved in. I get to tag along for the photography part. Love Texans.
