New Kids on the Block

These are very young juvenile brown pelicans, you can tell by the soft feathers. I was taken by them and how beautiful the texture was. There was a large group but the babies stayed together away from the rest of them. I wonder if that is part of their being taught to be on their own.

These were taken at a dock in Galveston an Island about 30 minuets from me but we have an abundance of places here to take bird pictures as i am on the Gulf Coast of Texas so we have beaches, bays, marshes etc galore all within an hours driving distance as well as numerous state parks, rookeries, nature centers, and bird sanctuaries.
