    Carnarvon Gorge National Park

Just returned from a trip to one of Queensland, Australia's best national parks at Carnarvon Gorge. It's a bit of a photographer's paradise. The native animals are used to humans so approaching them for close ups is not too much of a problem. These are some of my shots from around the campsite....

    Pretty Face Wallaby

    Eastern Grey kangaroo

Odd man out. An Egret with three Royal Spoonbills and a Yellow Billed Spoonbill

Keelback snake, non venomous by the way.

A couple of Platypuses. They're seldom seen and difficult to photograph because they're quite shy and only come out in the early morning and late afternoon. These were shot at f2.8 and ISO 2000. Sorry about the bright highlight/reflections but a polarising filter would have lost me about one stop of light.

And finally when you walk through the world don't forget to take the time to stop and smell the grass seeds

Wonder series! Loved them all but the snake! Only because I do not like snakes in any way shape or form!

Gee, Graham, your title led me to anticipate a picture of a waterfall.

I like the 3rd shot best. The background really suits those birds.

Thanks Brabara & Dave. As long as they're non venemous snakes don't bother me. I didn't have my camera ready when I saw another one up the gorge while walking but it was one You would never approach. It was a Taipan which is the world's deadliest snake.

There aren't any big falls in the gorge Greg but I will be posting some shots of the spectacular scenery there is to see there.

So this is the first shots of the gorge...I like this series too...not keen on snakes either. 'Remember a visitor from the States when I was living full time in Oz. I took him to the wild life reserve and when he saw the platypus, he loved to take it home...going back to San Diego, he prepared his big fish pond especially for it...he came back to find so many regulations before he can bring it back here to the US, plus he was given a slew of information about it. His fish pond then turned to a real live fish pond, no platypus... (but I suggested koi...didn't I? )

That's a great series Graham but I liked the first one in particular. You can keep the snake though, venomous or not.

All very nice. The platypus is rather special. The only place I have seen them in the wild was at Eungella, although others have seen them near where I live. The snake looks quite pretty as many do.

I like all of these, including the snake! However, I do like the second Platypus best.
