Plum Headed Finches
Shot just after sun up these little birds rise up in flocks out of the tall grass and crops on the Darling Downs just west of Brisbane. They're about 50mm / 2 inches long.
Used my 150-600 Tamron which I'm very pleased with. This is hand held at 600mm, f7.1, 1/200 on a crop frame EOS 70D (i.e. 960mm 35mm equivalent)

Re: Plum Headed Finches
We have some black and yellow two inches birdies around here and they flit a lot and impossible to capture but you inspired me to try...beautiful shots...I wish I have the patience to wait...as you did.

Nice shot Graham, the early morning light works well here. And the lens looks to be doing it's job nicely.

Lovely image. The background looks like a painting I have.

I loved it Graham, lovely birds and very nice BG I don't like your watermark as I don't like anybody's watermark. I usually find them distracting.
