    SmugMug Display Size Setting Question

For those SmugMug Users what do you set as you default Display Size for your Galleries? At first mine were set to original, but it could take an eternity to load.

According to SmugMug website the sizes are as follows

    SmugMug Display Size Setting Question

I think XLarge probably would be more than adequate. I do not have an express intent for my use of SmugMug, other than a online photo sharing mainly within the photography community. So in some sense a higher resolution is better, any sharing with family or friends of photos is usually done through other social media.

    I welcome any thoughts.

My largest viewing size is XLarge. Also, I make sure that I have the copyright protect button at 'On'.

    I'll have to check

A supplementary question - what size images do you upload? I really ought to do more with Smumug, but at the moment I mostly use as a convenient way to share collections of images with family and friends. Since I don't expect they'll go anywhere other than being viewed online, and since my broadband is horribly slow, I just export from Lightroom at long side 1200.

XLarge for public galleries, Original for some hidden galleries from which I want people to be able to download photos to print.

    Donald,

I don't see the copyright button. Where is it hidden?

    Thanks

There's probably a universal facility so that you can do it once and apply it to all galleries, but .....!

If you select a gallery, any gallery, and click on 'Organise'. Once in there click on 'Settings' (located up near the top left).

Then, click on 'Photo Protection'. Then switch 'Right Click Protected' to 'On' and Save.

When anyone then right clicks to try and save a copy of your image, they get a copyright message saying the image is protected.

Re: SmugMug Display Size Setting Question

I do not know if this is relevant to your problem but my thoughts arise from when I had dial-up connection and realized that large files download slowly. So I organised two files for my websites, a small one of 200x150 pixels at around 10 < 20Kb for the thumbnails and then the 'large' version at 800x600 pixels and no more than 150Kb for those prepared to wait awhile. That was when I and most had small monitors .... but I had control over my websites instead of having to conform to a site.
I used to belong to an Australian photo group which had I think a ruling of no more than 150kb and there was no question about viewing quality until some agitated for more so they could, I guess, pixel peep.
