    Show Us Your Bugs

Several CinC members are getting into macro photography so I am starting a general thread where anyone can add their insect photos.

Don't allow yourself to be intimidated by those members who regularly post perfect photos. Just do the best you can, particularly if the subjects are doing something interesting or unusual.

I will start with something saucy.

A mating pair of Empis tessellata, while the female is feeding on a Bibio fly.

    Show Us Your Bugs

And a pair of Weevils in a similar mood!

    Show Us Your Bugs

    A Bee Fly in flight

    Show Us Your Bugs

    Also flying, Eupeodes luniger

    Show Us Your Bugs

Just add on your insects and keep this thread going. Don't worry if you can't identify them.

Geoff...Your #1 is something like "kissin' cousins"! Love it!

This is getting a funny thread...I am glad you had started this. My macro has just been ordered and will arrive late next week, so I will get into it...I've read some tutorials this morning and that might get me going...This will be fun...

Mark, are your Pond Skaters eatig lunch while watching a movie...something crazy like a box of popcorn?

Makes me wonder if it's part of the mating ritual. I know with terns an exchange of fish is made prior to the act. Could be that a snack gets a bug "lucky" as well......................

Nice pic. The moth is commonly known as the Gold Spot.

Haven't started editing those from my last shoot yet; so a few from the previous time.

    A Cranefly - Nephrotoma quadrifaria

    And a Woundwort Shieldbug

See if I can find some more tomorrow - and slip even further behind with the editing/identification.

    Re: Show Us Your Bugs

I have found moths to be well down in numbers this year, Mark. But the Hebrew Character has been one of the more regular appearances.

There is a window overlooking my garden with a light near the window which attracts moths so I have been recording them. Over 70 species last year.

Good attitude, I read somewhere a poorly captured photo of something interesting is always more valuable than a well captured photo of something dull and uninteresting.

I will start with something saucy.
