An intriguing form. It reminded me that I keep intending to upload a similar image, so I have done so here. What is the setting of your form?

Nice shot, John...the tree twiggies are a little bit of a distraction here but I suppose by the look of it, there is no clear way to isolate your subject too much from the background...where did you take this one?

    John,

Thanks for comenting. this form is locating on the north portico of the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY. The form is titled "Laura" by artist Jaume Plensa and is 60x18x24m and made of marble, lead, and stainless steel.

    Hi Izzie,

The twigs didn't bother me so much, however I did take multiple shots that eliminated most. I thought this angle the most impressive. This was taken in Buffalo, NY at the Albright Knox Art Gallery. Thanks for commenting.

Same for me. I find it a very appealing object - peacefully evocative of some of the Buddha I have seen - and I also much prefer the first because of the nice B&W treatment, with great light/shadow.

It would be a beautiful study lit creatively in a darkened studio, all by itself, but interestingly for this large outdoor creation its context is intrinsic and essential to the appreciation of it. I think the inclusion of nature (the trees) and the nice framing by the trees works very well.

Why am I thinking Egyptian Phynx? You caught a very powerful light/shadow action between the building and the form. Would you consider lightening the trees to continue the light/shadow theme?

Now that I had seen another angle, I agree with you that the first one is more appealing...

Thanks for commenting Izzie. Just my method of working the scene, I also shot a few close ups, more to see the textures than anything else.

John I agree that #1 is the better shot. This is very nice. In the black and white almost seems surreal.
