    Re: Revamp!

    Hi, Rob;

    Lots of improvement there. The word "hopefully" still clangs in my ear, in the first paragraph of the "about" section. Perhaps it's because others here are speaking English English.

    I do still see the glitch in the galleries where the title from an earlier image is visible when I click through.

    A slightly off-topic point: if your domain name service provider can forward emails, you might set up an email that way, and use something like rob@carregwenimages.com instead of carregwen@btopenworld.com. It looks more professional. You also won't have to change it if you change ISPs.

    Cheers,
    Rick

    Removed 'hopefully'. Thanks.

    I'm getting comments from several people about glitches with the buttons on flash, so I have dropped the slideshow and reverted to normal selection viewing (you can still move through the images once the first is selected, but it doesn't use flash). The F11 problem has gone now as it isn't being used on a page with flash. It also fixes the problem that Wendy raised about the wording on how to use the video keys.

    I know I need to sort out the image sizes. I'll do that over the next few days.

    I'm investigating the email. Clickpic don't give you an email account if you get the domain name through them. If anyone else is thinking of using them I'd suggest getting the domain name from somewhere else, then import it to Clickpic, which you can do.

    Thank you for your help, Rick, and everyone else.

    Hi, Rob;

    I can see the fixes: I find it cleaner. The hrule, particularly, is a style element that makes a difference. It's a hard trade-off between the slick flash presentation and what will work with all browsers: I've been through it a lot (and I imagine you have, too), and we generally come down on the side of ensuring it works 90% of the time, meaning Firefox and IE.

    Whoever provides your domain name may be able to set up a forwarding rule for email.

    Cheers,
    Rick

    Thanks, Rick. Yes it does look cleaner, I think. And as you say, better to make sure it works for people. I think flash is sometimes a pain in the butt, and I sometimes give up on a site that takes too long to load. Some car manufacturer's sites are notorious for that.

    It looks as if clickpic do forwarding, as you say. They also provide an email account, but they charge extra. Here...http://www.clikpic.com/index.cfm?sec..._sections_id=1

    Hope you get lots of positive feedback! Do people in your area know of you as a photographer? Maybe a business card will be your next venture if you don't already have one?

    I have about a thousand! I keep handing them to people I meet when I'm out. It's often a good talking point.

    Hi Rob...

    I like your gallery but, have two suggestions:

    1. I like the term: "independent photographer" better than the term "amateur photographer" the two terms mean basically the same thing but have a different impact. Freelance is also a term which can bridge the amateur - professional gap. However, if you described yourself as "a photographer" without the limiting adjectives of "independent" or "amateur" it would not start the viewers brain to thinking, "I wonder just how good this guy really is?".

    2. You have some very wonderful images in your various galleries, However, IMO, the first image that pops up (that of the surf fisherman) doesn't portray the great quality of the rest of your images...

    Thanks for that. I had 'independent' on the homepage and 'amateur' on the 'about' page. I didn't notice that before.

    Did you mean this shot for the fisherman?
