Yellow crowned night heron enjoying a crawfish. These guys are fun to watch, they take the crawfish and flip it in the air catching and cracking the outer shell until it is easy to swallow. Depending on the size of the crawfish it can take a few or many flips.

Such great natural history shots especially the first one which is a ripper.
To paraphrase the saying "the early bird catches the crawfish". Conversely the early crawfish gets caught by the bird.

Thanks Izzie! I still have so much to learn and to get the quality of some of the more experienced bird photogs here and elsewhere. I hope by working at it everyday to get there. I think for the year I ve been doing it they are pretty good but not where they need to be........
