Buildings and flower centers for C&C please...

I have had a quick tweak with that building entrance, Izzie and this is what I came up with, but there is so much unwanted stuff in the scene which is going to pose trouble what ever you try.

Hi Izzie. Hope your eyelid heals soon. flower shots are lovely. I also like the second one but would prefer more stairs. You do have some challenges with the "stuff" in the shot, so I would have tried several different angles.

I love flower centres. Flowers that at first glance look identical can have completely different patterns inside, a bit like fingerprints.

You are right there, Rachel...I agree with you about the fingerprints of flower centers. I have others worth uploading too that I find beautiful but I have no time right now...

Izzie, that there purple flower (what is it?) deserves more attention from a reshoot.

Actually I am not sure but it is one of those center of the tulips that were there at the gardens two weeks ago...I am sure I did not catalogue it because it is a variety of tulips. I am glad you like it...Thank you very much for commenting and the feedback. I appreciate it very much.

Thank you for being too kind to me...I am agreeing with you about the non-vignette but that first one has the marks of heavy spot healing, content aware filling and cloning so I thought a vignette was in order there...

#2 I was just experimenting on B/W...I was thinking of a DubaiPhil wannabe...but I guess I have to work very hard to achieve that...

I like #3 too. It is my favourite of all of these...

These are all nice shots, but I would add:

#1 I prefer the version without the vignette.
#2 I prefer the coloured version. Like Grahame, I eventually found the bird. I was distracted by what looked like a squirrel perched on the chain.
#3 is my favourite, just as it is. I think the colour looks just right.
#4 is improved by the cloning. You only notice it because you are looking for it.

Thank you for looking and the nice feedback...I still have my flaws and that is compositioning and thinking hard about it before I press that shutter button. I really should listen to Geoff about using a tripod because it will allow me to think of composition and the like, the rest of it...at that stage, I wasn't in any mind to even shoot something usable but just to enjoy the moment I was out with Bill. This once a week thing is getting to me though the weather is not always helpful. One more day of sunshine tomorrow and a handful of rain for the rest of the week...so off tomorrow to do some shooting, camera use that is...

I agree about shooting more black and white. I have a book about it and will read it from tonight so I will have a real appreciation for it...I always think I cannot do it but once I get to see the works of others, I envy them for being able to do it...like your work...I am envious and have to change the way I think sometimes even if my day is partly devoted to annoying someone during the day...

One of my failure is that garden, sorry...I am just glad you came around to comment and gave me a feedback. I really do appreciate it.

For me it's #4, looks like a happy flower. One suggestion is to tone down or clone out the burned out highlights on the pedal (at about 2 o'clock). [Oops - I just saw that someone else pointed it out and you already took care of it, looks great!]

I'm not a fan of vignettes, unless you're going for that old timey look. I know the argument is to 'direct the eye' but my eye doesn't work that way.

Your B&W conversion doesn't look too bad, you should shoot more often for conversions.

The building doesn't really work for me as you can't really see it. It's more of a garden shot than anything.

Hi Isabel IMO #1 looks better without a vignette. I prefer the color version of #2. #4 looks better after cloning. I also like #3 but the reds in the middle are too strong and they distract, I would reduce the saturation on them.

Thank you for commenting and giving me a feedback. I learn a lot from them especially from you. The second shot was an experiment for a black and white so I thought...I guess I have to read more about it. I want to know more about the element of thinking in B/W or conversion thereof...

Aw...Rita...that is very nice. I sort of achieved that same kind but I held it back a little bit so that was the result there. I like the sky though even though the real one is the one that is on my original image...nothing to crow about really...I like your edit very much...

izzie, hope you don't mind but I had a little play with your image. I used Nik detail enhancer to bring out the sky more and removed the effect from the rest of the image. Played with brightness & contrast on the building and then sharpened the image using high pass filter. Don.t know if you will like it or not but thought I would post for you.

I like your version better than mine...it has more steps too...and I like crop very much. Thank you. I am learning a lot more each time I read your responses in my post and others too...Thank you so very much for taking the time to correct me and giving me some nice comments and feedback. Sorry Kim...I am sorry I did not have the right camera with me at the time. I should had brought my wide angle and I missed most of the top of the building so I thought I will just do the entrance ... not even have any different angle to go around in because of people, kids on school tours, etc. I have to wait to get even a shot without anyone walking pass...and it was nearly at the end of our walk so we rested by the bench while I tried not to get frustrated at myself for not having the right camera...the only other accessory I have was cleaning brush...I forgot the toothpaste... Glad I didn't have to use it...

Thanks so much for viewing and the feedback is so nice...I tried hard on that one you know...only to get honest crap thrown back at me but I enjoyed the experience because that is how I will learn to think and not just press my shutter button ... tomorrow I will lug my tripod so I have time to think about my shot...I am sure my mule will not mind...

I have lots too which I took last year after getting one by accident. I never uploaded them anywhere though because, I don't know, I guess flower centres aren't everyone's thing. Maybe I'll upload some here when I get time.

The vignette works for the first shot, I think, and B&W works for the doorway for me. The flowers are also nice.

Thanks for the added info Rachel...It will be nice if you upload your flowers. I like them. I will soon do mine after I have processed this trip tomorrow. I think my juice will be well spent with walking with my tripod so I will just pick and choose what I want to photograph. Besides I have got noticed that my macro lens is coming tomorrow...maybe I should postpone my trip...??? and practice on my macro lens with the spider I have in the fridge instead... I want to be here when FedEx delivers.
