    Baby Blues

When taking some bird shots yesterday I saw this cat. I was mesmerized by it's eyes. It is a feral cat that someone dumped on the dock, unfortunately a very common occurrence.

I'm glad you resisted any temptation to make this selective color Barbara

It just doesn't need gimmicks, great shot - for its inherent simplicity.

It undoubtedly helps that the feline is (fortuitously) almost camouflaged against the background - I wonder if that helps it hunt?

    Cheers, Dave

Izzie, it would not allow me to get close enough to touch it but even if I could my pups would not allow a feline sibling!

Thank you Dave, I loved how it blended in and yes I would imagine it helps it hunt. It looks like there is someone that feeds it and the other feral cats as I saw cans of food laid out on the road.

Very nice image - beautiful eyes.

We have recently adopted two feral barn cats who are living in our very large RV garage and will soon have the run of our property.

We feed then and give them shelter and they will reduce our rodent population. It's a win-win situation for us and for the cats.

I can understand your fascination. The eyes are almost a universe to get sucked into it.
    Sad about the common dumping.

    So Barbara?

If you shot this mesmerized by the eyes I would wonder why you didn’t work the shot more to that end?

A little selective contrast, some very selective sharpening, bringing those mesmerizing eyes in close to cast their spell (crop), and a bit of vignette to target the face!

Thank you Richard! These are at a dock next to a chemical plant so I would imagine they are feed frequently plus there are fields all around where if push came to shove they could catch something tasty. I went back today and found the siblings who have the same amazing eyes but very different fur colors.

It is especially sad because they could easily be taken to a shelter and instead these people dump them so they don't look bad. Makes no sense to me. They could get them fixed as well at low cost clinics and don't.....
