Obviously this would not be of interest to other geographic area but, it is for us in Southern California because we are suffering through a momentous drought. A drought so bad that I am replacing my lawn with drought tolerant landscaping...
I flew over California, from Los Angeles north, in February on my way back from a conference. I did the same flight, in February, in 2006 and 2012. This time the lack of mountain snow, dry river beds, empty lakes and the dessicated lowlands were quite shocking in comparison. I am really glad you got rain. Now you need about a month of rain to catch up.
I'm surprised you were able to identify that substance dripping from the sky.
need more rain, just not on Saturday...my babies have games to play!
Just enough to make the hills grow green during the spring and provide fuel for fire season......ahhh the memories of home. I truly miss it and wish I can return soon.
Was just the other day that I saw a political cartoon showing Jerry Brown with a long straw
trying to drink from the Great Lakes when a local resident was cutting his straw.
I love rain
Yes, it is scary when you can see how low most if not all the reservoirs are in the state, to say nothing of the lakes and snow pack this year.
That is a color picture by the way.
I like that if you look closely at it, you can see just about every 'step' of a falling drop and the resulting splash.
