    Locust Blossoms

I had a quiet day today at home. With all of the windows open, the lovely smell of the Locust trees in bloom was too sweet and did not go unnoticed.

This time, the image, in color, was as good as what could be.

In my lesson today with my mentor, I have processed both color and black and white.

    Locust Blossoms

    Locust Blossoms

    Please c&c.

Nice capture Marie. I much prefer the coloured version. It is the kind of image you see on greetings cards, the subject clean and on a plain background.

Excellent image; you can play with different colored back ground too... i wonder how this will stand out if background is deep black

Beautiful image Marie - love the simplicity. Color would be my choice.

    Dear John and Jim,

Thank you for your kind words.

I find that photographing images such as this to be very cleansing for me. We live high enough in the hills that the unobstructed sky was my background.

    Dear Nandakumar,

As a blackground is my preferred color, I know it would be good.

    Dear Kim,

That is what I was drawn to, was the simplicity. I wanted something like a Chinese watercolour.

Thank you for noticing and commenting.

I'm liking that Marie...would like it more without the lower branch and a touch of blue in the background.

one day if i try very hard and get very lucky I will find a way to get this 'lightness' in one of my shots. Well done!

    Re: Locust Blossoms

Very nice, Marie! I prefer the color version, not because it is in color, but because the monochrome lacks the tonal variation in the leaves displayed in the color version. That tonal variation implies shape and explicitly provides detail lacking in the monochrome.

    Hi, Matt and Greg!

While both versions have their merit, my personal preference is colour.

Thank you for looking and commenting.
