    Spring rain

I was out shooting some spring field work (or rather not shooting as there were no good compositions to be found) when this rain storm blew in. I decided to drop the original idea and try to see if I could make anything with the clouds and a old house. Nothing for forty minutes until the sun almost set, the clouds moved northeast and the clouds became a little lit from underneath. But nothing doing with the old house as the clouds had moved behind me by then. So dropped that idea and raced off to a new spot about a kilometer away.

    And got these.

These are shot after sunset, but with the long northern twilight I still had good light.

    Just after I got there

    Spring rain

After thinking to get the barn nearer to the central bright point in the clouds.

    Spring rain

Shortly after the last shot two lightening bolts hit just over the hill, decided photography was a hobby and not worth dying for It was a rather scary walk back to the car.

Shooting slightly through the barn seemed a good idea as well. The ruined door is a bonus point as it gave a more ominous feel to the barn. Last year the door was fully intact but rot and ruin are setting in. I foresee great things with this structure.

    Hi Trevor,
Just to say that I'm head over heels in love with the first image... Beautifully composed, and that gorgeous sky is extraordinary.

PS I saw your rainbow image on TV... Gorgeous, and my choice if I were voting.

These images must be seen displayed in their largest size to fully appreciate them. Great work, Trevor!

Trevor, I prefer #2 to #1 because you gave me a choice...I love the almost rotting door. Both shots have very dramatic moods with the sky up to no good. I can almost smell the earth from here when that rain fell later.
