Eyedropper tool in DPP RGB does what?

I think DPP (digital Photo Professional) is possibly a superior program to ACR but I find this eyedropper function in Tool Palette RGB Image Adjustment Tab a little confusing.
What is mean't by neutralise a colour.

I don't know DPP at all (being a 'Nikonite'), but surely most eye dropper tools adjust white balance by equalising R, G and B gains for zero chrominance on the point where you click. Hence the term neutralise, as in; removing a colour cast.

As distinct from the colour sampler mode of eye dropper use for setting say, text or border colours.

If that's a daft reply, you'll discover I didn't follow the link to see the context, I just guessed

Interesting, it seems to work differently since I can click on any colour and it mostly looks about right. In the example brown is clicked on and remains brown and only slightly different. I wish they would write these tutorials out.

I agree, the only thing I can think of that might cause this effect is if the dropper/brush size is huge, so it is actually averaging over a large part of the image (containing many different colours) no matter where the cursor is placed. But I'm wildly guessing ....

We (well, you) need a DPP user, I'm sure one will be along soon .... (cough, hint, hint)

Steve, try this site and see if it helps: http://www.usa.canon.com/content/dpp2/index.html If you look at the bottom left corner, there is a menu option that might lead you to your dropper. I have DPP but don't use it very much. I do, however, like the sharpening slider!
