    Nail and beauty ad

Cindy came home after having her nails done tonight and said that her beautician wondered if I could come up with something to put on her web site.

Sony A99, ISO 100, f/14, 1/100sec, Tamron 90mm macro with tripod and cable release , on camera flash with diffuser 1/16th there, or there about's.

I would suggest that you accomplished your mission...to nitpick, maybe try to darken the fine print.

That (the hand) would look even better on or as the business card.

Nice bright colors, natural skin tones and use of diagonal composition (I'm a sucker for diagonals)!

I'm gonna be really picky: Generally this type of photography is enhanced by very soft shadows, not the hard shadows in your photo. Move the light source close to the subject and/or fit it with diffusion material to make the shadows soft. Also consider using a second light source or reflector to brighten the shadows.

Considering that the website will already display the contact information, why photograph the business card?

Notice two reflections of your light source on the index and pinky fingers. Either change the position of the light source relative to the camera to eliminate them or do the easy thing and clone to remove them. Using a polarizer to eliminate them might work but I doubt it.

The jewelry is gorgeous, so much so that it is a distraction from the services being promoted -- the manicure and fingernail decorations.

Thanks William & John for your comments and Mike for the suggestions for improvement.
    Cheers, Greg

Had another edit of this image taking into consideration what was suggested, see if you think it is an improvement or not.
Regarding the card Mike, seemed like a good idea at the time
I will try your lighting suggestions when I can pin my nail model down again and try some different poses and props.
    Thanks for the C&C, Greg

Hi Greg The second image looks better to me. I would level it though as the business card looks a bit tilted.

The shadows are a lot more pleasing in the second version and the story being told is being told more effectively in my mind. It's also a nice touch that the direct reflections have been eliminated.
