    Iris C&C welcomed

This is my favorite flower in our yard, I only wish it had a longer life...

Your capture will give it a lasting duration. Nicely done.

Plant death arrives on stages...could you have folded the covering petal down to expose the internals?

I'm not sure Chauncey. I'm thinking the petal would be damaged, but I'll have to give it a try tomorrow.

Ours is just about going...the petals you can bend but with great difficulty because it is the shape of the flower. If you want to shoot the inside and centre you'll have to creep to the side with a macro camera I think...I have not tried it...but thinking about it while there are still some flowers about....Iris is also my husband's favourite flower because he grew up with his mother's irises in their garden. He always break a bulb and take some to where he moves when he moves house...a reminder of his mom.

Your shot looks seriously better if clicked into the light box. If you return for another set perhaps you could find a way to frame the open flower with the twisted opening/closing(?) purple ended thing-a-majigs? Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with trying to bend the flower Izzie. Wish I had a macro, but don't have one at this point. I agree with your husband...it's wonderful to be able to take some bulbs and bring them along on a move. Also special if they remind us of a loved one passed.

Yes, it does Brian, I should have mentioned that in my post. Thanks for your suggestion... the flowers have passed, but if I can find one more decent one, I'll give it a try.
