Very nice shots Gerry #1 might look better, if you rotate the image 90 degrees anticlockwise.

Matt, these stairs although very nice are the exit stairs from the gift shop. I knew about them before from websites, we done a guided tour and when the guide said '' the gift shop is over there I asked him where the exit was'' He looked confused

Thanks for sharing these. I hate flying so would never get to see this otherwise. I just can't imagine how much time it took to make all this art work etc. Imagine what it would cost today if you wanted to replicate it using only the methods available at the time it was first done.

Good pictures with beautiful, generally soft light in the basilica and Doria Pamphilj, which is supporting the mood of the golden rooms.
I would try to selectively reduce the harshness of the light in the windows of the gallery and the spot lamp on top in St. Peter.
You are lucky to have the staircase without people; it never happened to me.

That's a very nice set of well exposed images Gerry. Brings back memories. Erwins thoughts on the highlights would be worth some additional PP though. Nice work.

All very nice shots, Gerry...what can I say? I've haven't seen the place and there is no chance I will ever see it, so let me indulge and just enjoy looking at your shots...they are not just shot shots of a magnificent place, your shots made is more so.

Lovely. Makes me wanna go to Rome.

(The lamp and the wall on the left in the third picture is disturbing I think.)

Now that you mentioned it is distracting, but easily cropped without losing anything, IMHO.
