Living in Assynt
Trying to convey the mood and sense of a place in the way you saw it and replicate that in an image that you create, is what so many of us strive for. I know what this image says to me. I don't know what it says to you, but I hope its the same thing. But I have no control over that.

Assynt is an area in the far north-west of Scotland. It is a rugged land.

Nicely captured. It has a cold, sterile appearance and that is only because of the high key treatment, look of an overcast sky, and mono conversion.

That looks pretty bleak to me Donald. No trees around to speak of. For some reason I've got to have a few trees.
Looks like they have a surplus of stones though.

I don't appreciate this style of photography though I do appreciate the very effective storytelling going on, at least the story I'm "reading."

Bleak is exactly the word that first came to my mind. Paint the house a bright white but it still looks like a pretty hard existence, barely connected to the rest of the world. Trying hard, but not quite making it.

IMO the image would look nicer with a grey sky conveying the feeling of a gloomy day
