New member saying cheese

Hi all, I've followed this site for a few weeks so thought I'd sign up. I've been into photography for around a year: I'm still at the experimental stage so don't specialise in anything, but I'm enjoying trying out many different styles and learning as I go.

I'm mainly shooting with a canon eos 1100d, and I have three lenses at present to cover all focal lengths - nothing expensive, the 18-55 kit, the nifty fifty and a 75-300mm zoom. I have many wants when it comes to upgrading my kit, not least the camera body as I'd love a better burst and spot metering, but I'm having fun with what I have. I also have Lightroom and Photoshop, but again I'm very much a novice, and often find frustration with knowing what I want to do but being overwhelmed with the options available.

I'm here to learn from others, pluck up the courage to post some of my own images for comments (I'm my biggest critic already but have rarely shared my images outside my family) and grow as a photographer.

In the rest of my life I work at a university, and have a beautiful wife and daughter (11 months old at present). I'm looking forward to getting involved!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been doing a lot of reading this weekend, especially on post-processing, so I'll get some images up for comments shortly.
