pushing your luck - Spider alert
I was out looking for bugs today, amongst others I found this rather lovely male hunting spider - and noted the fly really pushing its luck - bet its glad that spiders dont have eyes in the back of their heads !
and this is what the fly avoided !

Re: pushing your luck - Spider alert
At this time of the year, Mark, male Pisaura mirabilis are probably more interested in searching for females than eating flies.
Won't be long now before we see those Pisaura 'nursery tents' amongst the foliage.

Re: pushing your luck - Spider alert
While admittedly I have a soft spot for jumpers, I am a fan of spiders overall. I particularly like the second image, he's ready for anything, you can tell because he has his boxing gloves(pedipalps) at the ready. Are these a type of funnel spiders? Around here there are grass spiders (Agelenopsis) that weave a sheet/funnel type web, usually mid- to late-summer and, with a heavy morning dew a lawn (and low shrubs) will be covered in dew covered webs.

Thank you Binnur, I had to get low down for #2 to get the fangs in - well worth it as you say
