It takes a lovely woman like Jess to still look beautiful with hair that short....

Now that was a rather drastic decision; sounds like there must be a story there...

Regardless, three very nice images, Travis.

I love just the flash of eyebrow and eyelashes around her right eye in the first one. If it had been 100% profile with those not in view, I think it would not have been such striking image. It really works. Good lesson.

    Hi Travis,

Must be nice having such a great model willing to work with you! Nice shots of the new do!

A couple of quickie ideas on these off the top if I may? Kind of pressed for time so just quickie first impressions.

On all three shots the detail in the hair in some areas is hopelessly crushed to black. I wonder if that happened during the conversion? If not, maybe a bit of hair reflector (I probably wouldn’t light it) at the shoot might be a thought.

I would definitely clean up and dodge the inside of her inner left ear on #1. And by quite a bit. And I would probably burn in the back of her neck/shoulder a bit because it’s starting to get lost in the background. I think I would also shorten the hairs on the back of her neck at the lower end of the hairline. For me at least, it interrupts the graceful curve of her neck. In fact, I might wonder about cleaning up that entire hairline on her neck in that area.

Love her eyes in #2. I would consider cleaning up her camera left nostril however. Maybe see if dodging that a bit to lighten it up might be to any advantage. In these high keys, the eye will be drawn to the darkest areas first and my eye went right to that nostril as one of the first things. Same with the inner ear on #1. In this shot I might try giving her a bit of a burn on the camera left shoulder for the same reason as #1 just to see if I liked it better. I wonder if the highlight on her camera left cheek/ear might be better burned in a bit to give more of a shortside lighting feel?

The only thing I would wonder about on the color shot is the crop. The end of the elbow and the fingers. There is also a patch of white on the pups head that is blown. This patch, however, I think is recoverable. Lighting could be a little flat and this would be a good place to play with your ratio. Maybe a tad bit less fill? I might also take a largish midtone burn brush set very low (8% or less) and run all of her exposed skin. This one might also benefit from a light vignette.

Nice shots all Travis for sure. Just some quickie ideas! Please tell Jess I like the new do!
