No Guts No Glory - C&C Welcome

    Hello,

I visited the American Military Cemetery in Luxembourg over the Memorial Day weekend. It was very moving to be present during the Memorial Day ceremony.

They had several WWII vehicles on display for the ceremony, and I found the composition to be very dramatic and telling a bit of a story. I tried both with normal exposure and with flash. Perhaps it is just my first go with the flash, but I find the sfirst to be much more impactful.

I welcome C&C on either photo. I am really trying to work on using the Flash and improve my PP skills. Thanks for looking and more to follow.

I think the flash effort would have worked better if you had managed to avoid that bit of shadow in the bottom left corner.

Incidentally, when using flash, I always set the camera with manual settings to suit the scene then vary the flash output compensation as required.

Thanks for the feedback Geoff, yes I can see that now how I missed that corner.

I did shot that flash exposure in manual mode and adjusted the settings on my SB700 to get the required distance I needed for the exposure. It just seems much easier to me to make it all work in this manner.

I prefer the second version, Erik. The composition is very nicely executed.I cannot comment on the techie details as I am still a greenie but I can tell you that there is a lot of possibilities for more shots in that vehicle too...e.g. the chains...I love that part...
