    Abstracts

I have tried some abstracts. All frames are un-cropped. Please share your comments and critics for the same.

    Thanks - Tejal

    Re: Abstracts

    #1 & 4 for me as abstract.
The tree bark would work for me as the backdrop for another picture, and I'm on the fence about 3 as an abstract, although I like the way you processed it.

    Re: Abstracts

I agree with Kris. #2 doesn't really have a focus. #4 is the most interesting.

Have to agree with the others, it's not so much that #3 doesn't have focus; it's too easily recognizable to be anything but what it is. The tree bark falls into the same category, however there are many hidden gems within that make this more of an illusion than an abstract. All are good examples of patterns, shapes, and lines.

Excellent. #1 and #4 (excellent one) for me. Tree trunk can be used as a texture in post processing, a very good shot too.

How about cropping #1 from right and little from bottom to make it a square crop? i.e keeping that object in the center towards right.

    Re: Abstracts

Although #1 is a good abstract, #4 is better by far because I have no idea what it originally was. This, for me, would be the criterion for a good abstract.

    John

    PS, what was #4?

I would never have guessed. If pressed I would have said #4 was as pattern on a cave wall!

Tejal...I prefer the last one too...the shot have more essence in it. I also have the same image as yours of a tree trunk but taken at the botanical garden trip sometime ago. I did not post it because I also meant to use it sometime for something...I like the texture of that ... thank you for sharing...

What happened to the sea shell? I like that one....

Everyone has their own understanding of what makes a good abstract. Here is simply one of the many options your fine number 4 shot inspires
