    Little Cowgirl C&C invited

Hi everyone - a couple of young girls allowed me to take some images of them. This girl is 8 years old. She loves her sheep. I want to improve my portraits, so looking for feedback. I like the positive vignette -- does it work?

    Thank you

Not your typical portrait and for that it works.

Very nice portrait showing a wonderful smile on the little sheepgirl (err. cowgirl). I would consider a slight crop on image left to get rid of the end of the barn/fence and a slight crop at the top.

Nice portrait, Kim. I agree with Richard about the gap on the left but I would clone a bit of the barn into the space rather than cropping the shot.

Thank you Richard and Greg for viewing and commenting. I'm still working with this image, so will consider your comments. My cloning skills need a lot of improvement, so will not be able to do a nice job cloning the barn at this point.

Thank you for your comment Peter. She was such a character and was all about her boots; she made me smile.

I think the colour and tone in this are great. The whole thing is very balanced and harmonious to look at. There are no jarring elements. It is what I would call, a lovely, gently image, which is perfect for the subject matter.

If you do go with the suggestions made about cropping a bit on the left, what about also a crop at the bottom? Do we need to see as much space as we do below the girl's feet?

Thank you Donald for commenting. As mentioned, I am still working on this one. I have come to learn that you need to let images breath like wine... I'll consider your suggestion as well when I take a second look. Thanks for sharing the suggestion.

As others have said, this is a lovely subject and well photographed. Perhaps it could be cropped differently but that is not important to my eye.

I think the word "cowgirl" should be changed to "shepherdess" though.
