Making a twisted ribbon, or anything else, in PS CC

I have two aligned layers in PS CC of the same ribbon on a black background...one ribbon
layer colored red, and the other colored blue.
My goal is to create a twist or fold in the ribbon showing both the red and blue sides
    dependent upon the twist.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to easily achieve my goal...any help out there?

Have you tried the liquefy tool? It can do simulated plastic surgery to faces.

That's the first thing I went to John, but that's only part of it.

Get a real two tone ribbon, take a picture of it twisted the way you wand and manipulate it in Photoshop. It's a lot easier to do this kind of drawing work in vector based tool like Adobe Illustrator than it is in Photoshop.

It's time to fess-up, it taint a ribbon...is a smoke formed rose petal.
I think that I got it though.

Not what I expected, I thought you were going for something more twisted.

    Where's the blue layer?

With what you had to work with Terry...that is a great job.

    Where's the blue layer
The backside of a rose petal is a reddish shade...here I made it blue.

That blue really lifts it off the screen, not sure if it would work with the twist; would be interesting to see the transformation.

You mean how it was accomplished?

If you use both layers with the twisted formation; if that's your intention.

My way...for now...color your working layer using colorize in Hue Saturation Adjustment Layer>
merge the working and Saturation layers>Ctr J to duplicate new merged layer>make the lower,
of the 2 new working layers darker, I used curves.

Using liquify tool in the same delicate stages again and again on top layer until your satisfied>
use the same liquify settings on the bottom layer to taste. A layer mask may be needed for touch up.

If there's an easier way, I haven't figured it out. Should have used some masking on this one at the top.
    Anyway, from this to this...
