Bamboo office/studio/library, new stonework, part of tai chi area

This time I tried doing more in-camera. Two colour shots of slightly different exposure. Two B&W shots of slightly different exposure. Instead of 4:3 framing I used 16:9. I did a very minor alignment crop and ended up with the 4 basic shots for a depth merge in Gimp. There was of course, still a lot of work in Gimp. C&C muchly appreciated this is not my usual area.

As soon as I looked at this shot in the light-box I knew that it needed just a little more cleaning up. So here is the cleaned up version.

Nice effort, shadows on right hand side need a bit more lift; just on the stone work.

I wonder what it would look like taken at a more forgiving time of day?
The shadows are very hard, I think.

We are just past high summer here. The sun is bright and hard. Early morning or late afternoon could work. This shot was taken about 09:30

If you shot the photo in RAW you can brighten the shadows using the shadows slider. Its a useful tool

You would be amazed how many tweaks and layers went into making it look so natural

An interesting comment which I assume refers to Adobe which in PSP is 'fill light' and the additional point is the use of the selection tool to limit it to a specific area that has been selected. Works in jpg for me.
