    Izzie inspired me

It is finally a nice Saturday in Minnesota, mosquitoes still have not cranked up, and Sherburne NWR has a bird hike scheduled. Figure it is a good opportunity to get some bird shots, pairing the D750 with the old Sigma 400. Arrived and figured out I forgot to bring the other half of my quick release for the monopod. Drats!!! Made lemonade from lemons

My bug shot of the day

    Izzie inspired me
    Three-Leaved False Solomon's Seal

    Izzie inspired me
Puccoon and Lupine-hands down my favorite flower shot

I did manage a couple bird shots with the 70-200 F4, not likely my favorite bird lens so far

    Izzie inspired me
Trumpeter Swan-cropped way too much, but I love the pose

    Izzie inspired me
Yellow-Throated Vireo-new bird for me, so no comments about the crappy angle

Thanks Randy...lazy man's (in my case, woman's) way of photographing birds is via remote, a good chair and a cold drink...I am glad I inspired you...do it again... Prove you can be lazier than me....

I like #1 because I like butterflies very much. #2 is simplistic but can be better with further pp work. (I will show you how in my own post. Look for the first batch of my post in K9 in Flight.)

Anyway, moving on...could have been very nice with the right lens, eh? Now you know how I feel when I only have the 70-300mm with me in bird paradise (Florida); and no comment on the last one, as per your suggestion, even if only to say "that last one sucks!" (sorry...no, I'm not...)

When using focus trap you even don't have to use the remote, just keep the rest.

Izzie, also inspired me to keep at trying to capture small birds in flight, as challenging as it is...

Three-Leaved False Solomon's Seal is absolutely gorgeous! One of the most beautiful images of wildflowers I've seen. A wall hanger... I also like it in a square crop (a little off of the left hand side) although I'm not sure why. Perhaps just a closer view of the flowers you captured so beautifully.

I also adore the composition of the Trumpeter Swan image for the inclusion of the environment, and the peek through the layers of grass, and the pose of the swan but my personal preference would be for more natural PP (water/grass). It's also a wee bit crooked, but still lovely to me.

First and last are too, busy for me... Bug shot of the day is busy but very pretty.

But I like using my remote George, keeps me cool with my soda drink in the shade of my kitchenette while watching dinner cook..

I think it was Dave Humphries who said put your focus on your target then turn off autofocus and use your other hand to adjust focus. In my case, I fixed my focus on one place manually and shoot away with my remote. What is wrong with that? I do not have to touch my camera...there is no chance for the camera to move without human or animal intervention...I think I like my system best...with a long heavy lens I cannot handhold and wait for my target to appear then shoot...been there, done that, no result...failure rate is so much high. Failure rate with a tripod and setting it fixed manually have lesser fails.

You do what you want to do, Ill take care of me...and btw, thanks for the words "focus trap". I googled it and tried to understand what it means and how to do it with my camera. It ain't applicable to what I did...maybe on airplane shots on my 70-300mm. At least I can handhold and chase and pan the camera at the same time...

The shots in my other post were done with lens braced on window frame while sitting in my new car, with leather seats, while listening to BB King Bluesville, with AC cranked to 70 degrees, drinking lemonade.........does that count?
