How am i best to present a panorama please?

I was lucky enough to visit northern Vietnam recently and as you do I took a few snaps. Some of these I made into what I feel are nice panoramas. My problem is how do I present them on here or on my computer? If I make the image smaller I lose detail and if bigger then I have to keep scrolling around. Am I missing something please experts? Here is an example I have four or five and am not sure of the best way forward.
    Thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew Your image seems to have enough details and I like it very much. BTW I'm not an expert on pano shots and the experts might give better advice.

I'm not the expert, but I don't think so. Post it up a size that's big enough that we do have to scroll around in the Lightbox. That's part of the pleasure. And that one you have posted is gorgeous.

    Lovely shot Andrew!

As far as I'm aware there is no way around it, pano shots are better viewed in some form of print rather than on a screen.

Andrew - as someone who dabbles with panos, I find that their format means neither screen nor print are ideal ways of displaying them. I tend to prefer screen since the user can dig into the details quite easily, whereas with a print, the fixed size means there are very limited ways of presenting the shot; one really needs a super large print (nicely said, a very expensive one) to hang one on a wall.

My own experiments with printing have been less than satisfactory...

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have tried to bring the image size down by two thirds and I am posting that version to see if its better. I think this is now 3000 pixels long. After I posted this I checked to see what it looks like but the image seems to have been reduced somehow . Is that right?

Andrew - I suspect that TinyPics is the problem and it seems to scale down images once they hit a certain size. Flickr (which I use) does not.

If you look at a recent pano that I posted (6717 x 1708 pixels) shows the full dimensions in Lightbox.

What a great panorama Manfred that's lovely. I have been lucky enough to see that view a couple of times and you got it beautifully. You are right about my upload it keeps getting resized by tinypic but I don't seem to have any other options.

There are other hosts around. I believe the basic Flickr account is free. I have a "grandfathered" premium account, so I'm not sure what the basic service is. I believe Google has also started up a free image storage site.

    Hi Andrew,

I have no experience with this to share but I just want to say that your image is breathtakingly beautiful - and a truly inspirational image for me.

Unfortunately, a stitched pano is really, really big. Digital presentation ends up on a screen that is really, really small. Look at the number of pixels on your own screen and compare it to the size of the pano. There is no way to fit that many pixels on a screen and so you need to scroll and pan to get to see all the detail.

Dell has a 32 inch monitor with a native resolution of 3840 x 2160. My D7100 has a resolution of 6000x4000 and I stitch panos from it.

    But, Nice shot
