    End of the Day

Something about this scene made me stop the car and snap a photo. The colors were just so vivid. As landscape is not my strength and CC would be welcomed and appreciated.

    Barbara,

I like the composition and the colors. The focus looks a bit soft to me but it could be because I am viewing this on my laptop. One question, How did you shoot the sun without getting lens flare. Every time that I have tried a shot with the sun in it I end up with overexposed area around the sun or a very dark shot with a nice sun?

    Very nice shot.
I think I'd have waited for the sun to go down to tree level and taken a shot then too, if I wasn't in a hurry to get home.

Andre, it might be soft I was shooting hand held and so the shutter speed may have not been where it needed to be. In PP I darkened the sun a tad but I think I also did exposure compensation which would have helped. I will need to look at the exif info to confirm that and I don't have it available right now.

Alan, unfortunately I had a very antsy teen with me who barely wanted me to stop at all. If I had been solo I would have made many more shots and even pulled out the tripod that was in the back of my SUV. Next time I shall bribe him for more time we had been on a ranch shooting all day, so to be fair he had been a real trooper up until then. He was ready to get home.

It looks like focus was on the tree line which is tending to make the foreground seem a little soft; but it does appear a lot sharper all round when viewed at full screen size.

    End of the Day
I have been told that horizons and points of attraction are crucial in landscapes. So with a small crop many things can change. This crop puts the tree line and the clouds at about 1/3 from the bottom and top and puts the sun near a point of focus.

Don't know that it is any better. Just something t think about.
The colours are superb and i could get lost for hours playing with them!

I do not know if I am looking at this shot elongated as I did with John's (Shadowman) image. It was elongated too. I got off and came back and it is the same but with Brian's edit it was OK...pity I like the colour and the shot but the image seems to be the wrong thingie, I don't know why...

Thank you David! I thought ya'll might be getting tired of my birds so I am trying other subjects. I am still shooting them, with my camera, not a gun

Izzie not sure why that happened! I know it has happened to me on occasion as well but usually is fixed by leaving the post and then returning.
