I can't say I remember seeing a yellow Shinkansen train while in Japan, so I had to do some work with a search engine.

I had not been aware that there were high speed maintenance trains, but of course this makes sense; how else to detect problem areas unless a high speed train is traveling down the high speed tracks. I guess that in part explains the impeccable safety record of the Shinkansen trains.

As for the image; I really like your shot. The bright yellow train set amongst all of the piping and cabling that frame the image work well. Nicely done!

This Shinkansen have not a official schedule. I also have searched for information through Japanese train fan website. Fortunately, I found an accurate prediction schedule and I have found this nice place to get this shot.
