Part 1 is good, Mike. But these, where you have been able to apply a more creative/artistic eye, are super. I hope the organiser's see that images like this tell them (and us) as much about the event as seeing pics of people running and walking.

The organizers and their sponsors do indeed appreciate the value of the many images that are not of the race itself. The sponsors look mostly for photos of their employees and for their branding. The organizers like seeing that the totality of the photos tells the story about the entire event beginning from setup time (I began shooting at 5:00am) to everything going on for a couple hours after the races are concluded.

I'm so appreciative that you posted Part 1 and Part 2 as it really displays the difference between straight documentary and documentary with a more artistic flare. I really enjoy all the images in Part 2.

These are are all wonderfully creative!
I'm especially adore #2 because it's so whimsical and fun. And #1 for making something so ordinary, extraordinary ! And #5 for the unique composition and attention on the medal..
