    An Ito peony

From our garden. This is a 14-image stack, stacked with Zerene DMap and touched up a bit from a PMax stack, otherwise edited in LR.

    C&C welcome as always.

    Hi Dan,
An exquisite image with wonderful clarity and detail.
As someone who hasn't even contemplated stacking, can you tell me why the stack of 14 images please? Is it to improve dynamic range, clarity, reduce noise....

    cheers,
    Trish

    HI Trish,

Many thanks. Stacking of different sorts can be done for different reasons, but in this case, I did it just to increase depth of field, which is very thin at macro distances. This is a very deep flower, which made stacking more important than it would be with, say, a daisy shot straight on. In this case, a bunch of the images were needed to keep the foreground petals, which are quite a bit closer, in focus.

Indeed, beautiful image! I also adore the colours and composition. I love all of your flower shots but this one is extra special, for me.

Thanks, all. They are amazing flowers, quite unlike the more common peonies, which don't have much of a visible center.
