Hopalong Leaffoot
I think it's a Leaffooted Bug, Acanthocephala terminalis, based on the insect guide, but he/she's missing the starboard fore leg. You can see the stump: I assume that like many arthropods, it breaks off at a joint point, so the animal survives, leaving a leg behind.
I definitely want to do something about better lighting for macro. This was with my 580EX on a bracket: I skipped my Opteka diffuser, which I think was a mistake.
Canon 500D, 100mm f/2.8L, f/11, 1/180, ISO 200, flash manual at 1/4.
C&C always appreciated.
Cheers,
Rick
