I went to explore the area around the castle yesterday afternoon, and managed to get a few nice shots.

It really is a beautiful area!

This is the first one I've processed, I took this from a putting green on a golf course

This scene displays colors that are more natural than your typical style. I like this more natural look very much.

The foreground makes me want to walk through the ferns so I have a view from the very top of the hill. Perhaps you tried that and found that the composition wasn't improved.

The foreground is well focused so that makes the shot for me.

Maybe you could have turned very slightly to the left so as to place the castle fractionally further into the scene. But there is a small tree on the right side which would be limiting; and it is quite possible that something on the left had to be excluded.

It was a very steep drop, so I didn't get too close.

I actually cropped a bit of the left hand side as I felt the composition worked better.
